I’m afraid I just couldn’t resist pre-ordering the GTA IV: Special Edition. I’m a real sucker for special editions, limited editions, collectors editions, or whatever “extra” moniker they decide to slap onto the box.
I know that for a majority of the time the extras included in these so called “special editions” are superfluous, but I believe that after years of brain conditioning from marketing and advertising campaigns my frontal lobe is overridden by a base desire just to “have it”.
Anyway, I should hopefully find out how “special” these goodies are when the game is released later this month.

I’m still trying to decide if I’ll buy GTA. I’ve never played the past ones because they did not seem that interesting to me but with all the hype we’ll have to see if I cave and check it out.
I’ve been playing the GTA series since 3 (I could never get on with the top down view with the prior games). In fact I bought a PS2 just to play it shortly after it was released. Anyway, I’m sure they’re not to everyone’s taste but they’ve always had a good mix of humour, action and a sense of freedom in the the sand-box cities which have all been excellent. Worth hiring at the very least I’d say.
I would really like to own this package but I am hanging out for the Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 package. Much like you I am slowly submitting to the hype. The trailers in particular have me so pumped, they are of such high production values. Very awe-inspiring (?).
Yep totally agree, the trailers have all been fantastic. They’re doing a grand job of hyping up the game. Both editing and music selection of the vids have been spot on for me.
I’m really hyped about this game and look forward to seeing how far the new engine can push the boundaries. Do you remember the step up from GTA II to just how jaw dropping III was? I’m not sure if we’ll get the same jump but it is looking amazing!
