From a lot of accounts Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was one of the highlights of E3 and looking at the footage I can see why. The game looks like it’s shaping up to be an amazing FPS and is due to be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
It was announced some time ago that the second Grand Theft Auto IV trailer would be released today and it’s now available for your viewing pleasure. I’m sure the trailer is being scrutinised all over the Internet to glean every possible last bit of information from it, but I’ll take it for what it is; An excellent trailer for a very promising looking game in the series.
Newly released in Japan on June 23rd for the Nintendo DS The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is the sequel to The Wind Waker and features the same cel shaded graphical style as its predecessor. Obviously the game caters for the reduced power of the DS compared to the Gamecube, but even so the game is looking stunning and as I’m a Zelda fan I really can’t wait to get hold of an English language copy. There’s been no confirmed European release date as yet, but with a bit of luck we may see it released later this summer.
Infinity Ward has released some gameplay footage for the next game in the Call of Duty series. Unlike all it’s predecessors which were set in WWII this time the action takes place in more modern times.
The game looks like it’s shaping up quite nicely and I’m pleased that they’ve brought the time frame up to date. No release dates are available but it’s due to appear on both the Xbox 360 and PS3.
This rather good “Prince of Persia” comparison video has been released over at Gametrailers. The video combines footage from the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis), PC and XBox 360 versions so you can compare and contrast.
I’ve not seen the retro versions for a very long time and it’s nice to see that the update is true to the original, not just in story but also level design.
There’s been some new footage released of imminent FPS game “The Darkness”. The game is looking quite interesting and offers a bit of a twist to the genre. If you’re getting a bit tired of countless Call of Duty et al clones then this may offer something new as you play as mafia hitman “Jackie Estacado” whom is cursed with demonic powers on his 21st birthday.
Hopefully a demo will be released on Xbox Live soon so I can try the game out before it’s released later this month.
There’s been a new trailer posted on GameTrailers recently for Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles which is due to appear on the Nintendo Wii. It looks like the game is going to be an on the rails shooter (think “House of the Dead”) combining different story elements from Resident Evil: 0, 1, 2, 3 games and making use of both the Wiimote and nun-chuck controllers.
I’m a fan of the Resident Evil series and this looks quite entertaining if you want some instant non-thinking zombie killing gratification, but somehow I would have preferred some more unique content in a Wii exclusive game. The game is scheduled to be released sometime later this year.
After the great The Hunting the Big Daddy gameplay video appeared a number of weeks back I’m always eager to see new footage of this game. A montage of new sequences has appeared on YouTube recently for your enjoyment. The video shows off some more interesting gameplay, including the electrobolt plasmid and the environments are always a joy to behold. I was also surprised at how fast the “big daddies” actually move. I just had the impression that they were lumbering behemoths, but they look like they can move at a fair old pace when they want to!
This game just seems to look better with every new piece of footage that I see. I really can’t wait to give this game a go and I sincerely hope that the gameplay and story live up to the hype that it’s generating.
